Welcome to the Drama Department. The faculty here in the 戏剧及戏剧艺术 program at Athens State University will expand the activities and 教育al opportunities in the dramatic and theatre arts by offering students with any experience level in college theatre to seamlessly transfer into completing a 文学学士 in 戏剧及戏剧艺术 with Athens State University. Students earning a BA in 戏剧及戏剧艺术 will acquire various fundamental performance and production techniques, and develop dramaturgical skills by learning to critically analyze dramatic literature, 戏剧性的理论, as well as current trends in the arts. 集设计, 照明, 代理, 道具, 阶段战斗, and music course offerings help create a well-rounded student experience.

The required academic training through research and scholarly writing accompanied by practical artistic experience with three annual mainstage productions will allow 戏剧及戏剧艺术 graduates to create a professional portfolio that is immediately applicable to continue their studies in an MA or MFA program in Drama, 戏剧艺术, 剧院, 跳舞, 性能的研究, 代理, 导演, 戏剧艺术 Administration and many other areas. 更重要的是, we are an inclusive and engaged community who share a love for the arts community. Were you the ‘art kid’ growing up? You know you are different and creative. Our art department is, too! Our programs and faculty are driven by a belief; that art students are innovative people. They are comfortable making those intuitive decisions and can change the world through creativity, 美, 和足智多谋, and students must be challenged in their field of learning through instruction and technology, experiential learning and exhibition. Study in any one of our programs; Art with a certificate in 教学 P-12, the B.F.A in Art with a concentration in Ceramics, 平面设计, Multimedia or Painting and Drawing, 或M.F.A. in Integrative Design and grow with us as artists. A degree gives you time to explore and hone your skills and talent. You can gain your artistic focus and express that better and better over time in your work. Many art courses are taught in a traditional format, yet some are blended or online. You’ll have a choice of class times and a choice in your pace of learning. Transitions from 社区 Colleges are seamless, and you can complete your 4-year degree in a timely manner. Prepare yourself for a future as an entrepreneur, 研究生, or an employee or employer in the arts at the state-of-the-art facility at the Alabama Center for the Arts with the Athens State University Art Department.
